Emerald Financial Partners recently donated a $1000 match to the Fish For a Cure fundraiser to benefit the Geaton and Joann DeCesaris Cancer Institute at AAMC . This worthy cause helps local families, affected by cancer, with a fully funded nurse navigator program. This program provides critical services to cancer patients and their families, including nurse navigation, education, genetics counseling, support groups, social work and psychology services.
As part of their affiliation with Thrive! Arundel, Emerald Financial Partners participates in quarterly initiatives that give back to the communities in which we live and work. Christy Bennett Rawlings serves as the Chairperson for the Giving Back committee and led the group’s 4th quarter efforts by organizing a poker tournament to raise funds for the local charity, Fish For A Cure. The group raised $2025 at the poker tournament – 100% of which is donated directly to the organization. Emerald matched the first $1000 raised, resulting in an overall $3000 to the team and the cause! “The team’s overall goal is to exceed last year’s donations of $12,000, and this is a big step towards that goal. We want to thank everyone who attended the poker tournament and contributed to this cause,” comments Christy.
The Fish for a Cure tournament raises money by having teams of boats compete for heaviest fish and most funds raised with all proceeds going directly to the foundation. “We are excited to be part of this initiative and that our efforts go directly back to the community where we live and work,” notes Valerie McLaughlin, Founder & CEO of Emerald Financial Partners.
